Batu Bolong Temple is located on top of one of the Njung (rocks that jut into the sea) in Segara Kidul Tanah Lot where this Njung rock has a hole in the middle, which is why this Njung is called Njung Batu Bolong.

The shape of the hole resembles an ardhacandra (crescent moon), so that when photographed from Njung Galuh creates a distinctive and beautiful panorama coupled with the crashing waves that collide alternately.

When there is a Pakelem Ceremony (Sacrifice Ceremony) in Segara Kidul, the wewalungan (animal) used as pakelem will be drowned around Njung Pura Batu Bolong. The Pujawali (Ceremony) of Batu Bolong Temple, which is on Wednesday Wage Wara Langkir based on the Balinese calendar.
